  1. How about a personal style of checking spelling as well as first letter caps!!...Happy Holiays to you!

  2. Oops! Left the "d" out of holiday, didn't I? So it goes.

Now I'm left to try to Nancy Drew who posted that comment, as they left very little in the way of clues.

Could just be my good friend Ric Poti (Random insane crazy person on the internet), but I doubt this blog (and the one the commenter refers to) gets much traffic from the Poti family.

The time should be a clue. Who is up at 1:48 in the morning any more? I thought everyone I knew was too old for that.

Aha! Parents of sick kids... or parents of insomniac kids.

Well, anonymous catty poster, who the heck are you?

  3. The game is afoot! Me thinks thou whilst be stumped....Here is the game ...and the rules (subject to change as we go along) 20 questions to guess the identity...I can pass on any questions if I so choose..which may or may not be a clue in itself. Your questions must be related to gaining information...and not random guesses. Once a guess is made..whether inaccurate or not..signifies the conclusion of the challenge. Are you up to it?

  4. Question #1: Have we ever met in person?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Question #2: In which of the following times of my life did we first meet: Pre-K (January 1967 to September 1972), K - 6 (September 1972 to September 1979), 7 - 12 (September 1979 to September 1985), College (September 1985 to May 1990), Post-College but Pre-Teaching (May 1990 to August 1998), or Teaching (August 1998 to present)?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Somewhere between 1967 and 1997

    ReplyDelete
  7. Not a question of my 20: So does that count as a pass? And if so, how many passes do you get?

Questions #3: Are you male or female?

    ReplyDelete
  8. FYI...since you tried to squeeze six separate albeit related questions into on, I decided to widen your ranges into one

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hey now, you didn't specify they had to be "yes/no" questions! I feel that's one question, but not a "yes/no" variety... anyway, are you male or female?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I will try to limit the passes to five...but some questions may or may not make the game to easy..so it could be more...and I will also pass on #3...cuts your field down too much

    ReplyDelete
  11. ok...questions shall be limited to two answer choices then

    ReplyDelete
  12. No way! It cuts the field down WAY less than my first question did... I mean, the number of people I have met is WAY less than the number I haven't!

    Fine, fine...

Question #4: Have we seen each other in person in the last year?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh great, now I'm confused... not a game question: Are the comments out of order here or what?

Also, to anyone who isn't the Mystery Commenter: if you're Joe Internet-Reading Guy and you thought this picture must be controversial because: check out all the comments, I hope you've figured out it's not.

  14. Question #5: Was I sprouting ugly facial hair at one of the times we've seen each other in the past year?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Question #4 yes we have seen each other in person the last year

    ReplyDelete
  16. Question #4 yes we have seen each other in person the last year

    ReplyDelete
  17. Question #5 I do not recall

    ReplyDelete
  18. Question #6: Are you within 10 years of my age?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Question #7: Are you currently married?

    ReplyDelete
  20. #7 No..not currently

    ReplyDelete
  21. Question #8: Have you ever seen me perform onstage?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hmm... that should REALLY narrow it down--so few people I know ever bother to show up...

Question #9: Did we first meet prior to September of 1985?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Question 9 will not count...it (or a very similar form of it )was previously passed upon in question 2.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well then, my REAL question #9: Can you correctly answer this question: "Who is my favorite playwright?" (And if "yes", you must correctly answer the question to prove it.)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Question #10: Do you currently live in the greater Kansas City area?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Question #11: Have you ever seen me sing a solo in an actual performance situation (as opposed to me, say, walking around and singing, as I am wont to do)?

    ReplyDelete
  27. And was that pass for #9, #10, or both #9 & #10?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm not sure....one would think if I had I would remember..but I cannot say with 100% certainty

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sorry I missed #10...No i do not live in the greater KC area at this time

    ReplyDelete
  30. And the pass was for #9....Over halfway there...any ideas yet?...be careful not to guess though....

    ReplyDelete
  31. A-HA!

    I still don't know.

    Um...

    Question #12: What's your sign?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Question #13: Have we ever sat in the same classroom at the same time?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Curses! I almost put a caveat that you can't say a street sign!

    Fine, then.

Question #14: What time is it where you are?

    ReplyDelete
  34. #13 Again...not sure...but possibly

    ReplyDelete
  35. 7:24 AM.....GMT curses again?

    ReplyDelete
  36. A-HA!

Question #15: Did you attend Mark Twain High School?

    ReplyDelete
  37. ::sigh::

Yes, your response to #14 does invoke curses, but not very energetic ones. It's late, as you may or may not also be experiencing.

    ReplyDelete
  38. #15...where is that located???

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm going to need clarification on your answer to #15: Is that a "no"?

    ReplyDelete
  40. No, I will never give up!

At least, not until after I've asked question #20 and given my guess...

Or at least not until I fall asleep at the computer... but even then I will pick up where I left off when I wake up.

Barring death in my sleep, which reminds me of a nightmare I had this week...

    ReplyDelete
  41. It is what it is...a question to your question

    ReplyDelete
  42. Okay, I typed a response, but blogger freaked on me.

It was something about how I'm going to take a break and sleep on this, as I only have a few questions left.

Also, I have a book I'd like to get back to reading.

    I shall return... later.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Okay, before I continue with my last few questions, I must first state for the record that you have stacked the deck against me here. I think I could put my remaining 5 questions to better use if you had not invented this "pass" option.

But, I shall not dwell on it.

    To summarize:

You took a pass on several questions. You openly passed on the gender question and whether or not you know my favorite playwright. You surreptitiously passed on the question about your sign--I refuse to believe you didn't understand the question. You passed on the time zone question (going by the selective misinterpretation equals a pass rule). And you passed on whether or not you attended Mark Twain High (this time by answering with a question).

There were a few questions that may as well have been passes. You can't recall if my facial hair was needing a shave when we saw each other last, which could mean we last saw each other pre-November, but that could be a misinterpretation on my part. You can't remember if you've seen me sing onstage... and worded it so there may be a hidden slam regarding how you think you'd remember it. We have possibly been in a class together.

What I seem to know for sure:

We met in person for the first time sometime during the first 31 years of my life. We have seen each other in person over the past year. You are now between 30 and 50 years old. You are currently single. You have seen me perform onstage. You do not live in the greater KC area.

Everyone I am currently thinking you might be falls in the "not currently single" category. I say before I move to the final 5, you have to give me a correct non-pass answer to one of the ones you've passed on so far!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I did not pass the Mark Twain High School question..I simply asked you a question to clarify...You did not specify which sign you were looking for, and I do prefer the yield sign over most others...as for your facial hair...although not diagnosed, I may suffer from ADD..I simply do not recall. As for your singing...there are two things to consider..either the ADD was again a factor....or maybe I saw you on stage long enough ago that I don't recall if you sang or not.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah, I'm still not sure I'm buyin' it. I'll leave you to guess which is the antecedent for my "it".

So, was that a "no" on a consolation answering of one of the passes?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Answer my question about location and we'll see

    ReplyDelete
  47. You know me but don't know where Mark Twain High School is? This narrows it down a bit... or narrows down who you aren't a bit.

The Mark Twain High School to which I am referring to is just outside of Center, Missouri.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Okay, I know who you are now... the biggest help was you telling me on the phone.

Question 16 should have been "Have you ever posted a comment on one of my blogs before?" That woul dhave narrowed it down to about 10 or fewer people...
